Frequently Asked Questions – Long Range Handgun, Calibers and Equipment

Examples of equipment used in matches

These examples are the Long Range Handgun:
  • The class weight limit is 7 pounds which many come close to weighing.
  • The class is unrestricted in design except the barrel must be 15 inches or less and the stock have pistol grip.
  • The Savage Striker with a scope is the heaviest combination that will make this weight limit.
  • The added weight aids in recoil reduction for the shooter.

Notice the rear grip and the center grip type of stock, some competitors are trying to gain more uniform velocity with a longer barrel, some competitors believe the shorter fatter barrel is stiffer and more accurate.
