Examples of equipment used in matches
These examples are the Plain Base Bullet:
- The class weight limit is 15 pounds, of which there is great variation and some are nine and ten pound rifles while others come close to weighing the limit.
- There are two main types of rifles in this competition with the common choice of caliber of either .32-40 or .32 Miller Special.
- Miller –DeHaas, or similar modern striker fired actions.
- Traditional which are the original Stevens, Ballard, Winchester, etc. single shot actions with a n outside hammer.
- Reproductions of the above traditional rifles.
- The bullets cannot have gaschecks on them.
- The bullets may be breech-seated.
- The alloys are typically soft, usually only tin and lead.
- Velocities range from 1200 to 1400 feet per second
