.32 ACP conversion on Remington 580

Andy Evans converted a Remington Model 580 single-shot bolt action .22 LR to center-fire and relined and rechambered to .32 ACP for me.

I recently chronographed a few .32 ACP +P high performance loads I have been testing in my Walther PP, just to see what they would do in a longer 22” rifle barrel.  The results are interesting:

Buffalo Bore 75-grain cast lead FN factory load 1163 fps, 14 Sd, 37 ES for n=10 rds.

Accurate 31-077B, Starline case, CCI 500, 5.6 grs. Alliant #2400 OAL 0.945” 1244 fps, 37 Sd, 94 ES n= 10 rds.

Accurate 31-090V, Starline case, CCI 500, 5.6 grs. Alliant #2400 OAL 0.945” 1235 fps, 17 Sd, 41 ES n= 10 rds.

Accurate 31-095T, Starline case, CCI 500, 3.0 grs. AutoComp, OAL 0.945” 1113 fps, 4 Sd, 10 ES n=10 rds!

Accurate 31-095T, Starline case, CCI 500 1.7 grs. Bullseye, OAL 0.945", 841 fps, 16 Sd, 44 ES n=10 rds.

Accurate 31-095T, Starline case, CCI 500 2.5 grains AutoComp OAL 0.945", 984 fps, 17 Sd, 43 ES n=10 rds.

Interesting to note 31-077B was accurate even at 100 yards, firing 4-inch groups off sandbags with 4X Bushnell Banner .22 scope.  A few rounds with 5.6 #2400 with Accurate 31-087T were also adequate to ring the 12” gong at 100 yards in casual offhand shooting.  I need to chronograph them from the rifle and shoot groups...

The large meplat 090V and 095T bullets were accurate at 25 yards, but shot completely wild at 100 yards...

RWS 73-grain FMJ, 1214 fps, 29 Sd, n=10, five consecutive 5-shot groups at 25 yds. 0.82"

Fiocchi 73-grain FMJ, 943 fps, 30 Sd, n=10, five consecutive 5-shot groups at 25 yds. 0.99"

Fiocchi 60-grain JHP, 1463 fps, 22 Sd, n= 10, five consecutive 5-shot groups at 25 yds. 1.27"

71-grain Magtech .312” FMJ, 2.5 grains Bullseye, Winchester case, WSP, OAL 0.97” 1104 fps, 18 Sd, n=10, five consecutive 5-shot groups at 25 yds. 1.02"
