I have an 1874 Beaumont and tried using a 405gr., .459 diameter and a 25 gr. of 5744 and it shoots all over the place at 100 yards. I was wondering if a 300gr cast bullet would be better or if there was any other tips you might have for this problem. I don't have the CH4 dies if that matters. I form them out of other things. Any information would be appreciated.

Try stuffing the case with 2FG black and a magnum primer.
