Greetings,
Originally Sioux City, went to the Castle on the Hill. Now shooting trapdoor 45-70s in Alaska. Never shot a 45-120, my shoulder says the 70 is just fine, don't need the 120. How much powder and flame come out the end with a full 120 grain load using BP?

I haven't used BP (somewhat scare 1F around here), I've been trying 4064, 3031, 5744, and 4350 for my loads. With the weight of the rifle (34" barrel) it doesn't feel too bad on the shoulder. I've been shootin cast bullets weighing 530 grains between 1500 & 1600 FPS on my chronograph at 15 feet away. I have a hunt this fall that I'm working up for.
