I'm looking at getting a new mould for .30 cal for my O3A3 it has a 4 grove barrel and is currently pushing a 170gr gc lee bullet with 15gr. of unique.  While that is putting out decent groups, im looking to try something different in it. What are some of you fellows using. or suggest

Also im not a competition shooter mainly just plinking and hunting.

The old Saeco #315 has been used successfully in competition by a lot of CBA shooters and is my all purpose .30, but there's a lot of good .30 molds out there. The really old Lyman 311299 or 314299 are still popular if you prefer a heavier bore rider type.

I don't have an 06,have 3 .308's. I waited all last summer fo my miracle molds, I didn't get them till October. The one mold so far I can't get to do anything that is near impressive, the other is for a rifle that is throated a little deeper & will not even feed in that rifle. I started playing around with a 311299 with Reloader #7 then went to 2400. The 311299 may be the miracle mold that I had all the while,if your bore is a little over then 314299. With the 06's longer neck you will have a larger selection of bullets to choose from, many of the ones that I would have liked to try just seat too deep in a .308 win without some throating work done.

RCBS 180 SP shoots well in the 4 grooves.

Well, Lyman #311284 is a match winner, plus at 210 grains from wheelweights will shoot end to end through your blacktail deer down there. Ric

You can go crazy sorting out the many .30 cal. moulds available. Spend a lot of money too.

I have several 03's and A3' which I have shot for near 30 years. The load I keep coming back to is the Saeco 315 bullet, 18 grains of SR4759 and a Fed 150 pistol primer. Clocks 1700 fps +/- in all my guns. Will easily hold the 10 ring on the MR-31 target if you are consistant in your hold.

Just one man's opinion, but pretty fail safe.

a second here for the Saeco 315 or the RCBS 180SP. I also tried the RCBS 200 Sil but it hasn't shot well any 3006 for me??

Saeco #315, #311299 / #314299, or one of my 7.62x39 bullets are all good choices.

I like the semi-roundnose original NEI version bullet best, but the Lee which resembles the later sharp-pointed NEI version is also OK.  Bands cast .313 in wheelweights, but tolerate nose-first, push-through sizing to .310 without damage.  Ahead of the crimp groove the bore-riding forepart is .308-.309, tapering to .303-.304 at ogive intersect, making  them good for oversized or worn throats.   NEI weights based on linotype, more like 162 grs. from WW.  These also shoot well without the GC shot unsized and as-cast, tumbled in Lee Liquid Alox.  Use 7 grs. of Bullseye or Red Dot or 10 grs. of Unique for plainbased, or your 15 grs. with GC should be OK.

I like 15-16 grs. of #2400 with GC in the .303, 7.62x54R, '06, as a go-to load.

I assume this mould is still available from NEI? Has anyone ordered one recently?
