Federal primers - best for revolvers?

On Starline's website, under the text for the 44-40 case, I found this:

*It has come to our attention that some Uberti revolvers have issues with light hammer strikes and will only fire with Federal primers, which we generally recommend for revolvers anyway."

In my own experience with various, mostly vintage, Colt and Smith & Wesson revolvers, I have had no problems with various primers from all the "usual suspects" - CCI, Winchester, Remington, as well as Federal.

Have you guys noticed that Federal (pistol) primers are easier to set off than other brands?

I didn't know this, and am not certain it's true, although Starline is a reputable outfit, I don't think they would put this on their website unless they had good reason.  What say you?

Yes, Federal standard small pistol (#100) and large pistol (#150) are made with a softer cup. I use the #100's to gauge pressures when I was working with a lot of 25/20 and 32/20. Both would show primer flow at about 22,000 psi, higher than they were made for use. Never seen a Colt or S&W with factory springs not fire any primer that fit the case even though the revolver was from the 1800's. Give Ed Harris a shout, as he has done many research projects on primers.

I would add Remington 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 to the soft cup primers also.

The only primers I've had any trouble with are the Winchester SP when they first switched from nickel plated cups to brass plated.

I've got plenty of COLT's, S & W's and RUGER'S with lightened actions. Only misfire's I've every had were with some seller & belliot SP's I got during the "shortage".

I hand seat all primers now, crushed too many FED & REM primers on an old dillon 450.

Might be the best all around any way!  ?

My S&W 686 would misfire because of light hammer strikes. Loose mainspring strain screw was problem. Retightening screw was a simple fix.

Do the Ubertis have strain screw

My UBERTI'S do. But I haven't bought one in 15 yrs. I know they made some recent changes. Perhaps to comply with new import requirements.
