I try to Copy and Paste select items from my digital copy of TFS to a text editor

and the results are only question marks instead of letters pasted into the new document.

Has anyone successfully Cut and Pasted from digital TFS? If so please tell me what to do.

hi ... the problem is that TFS comes to you as a PDF file, not text....  heh ....  kinda like a photo file on a computer is a JPEG, ( a file of yes and no dots ) not a collection of photons  ....

i think Adobe has a free interpreter/editor/converter, but it has been a while since i did that.  as i remember, some of free PDF>text converters didn't work, probably just trying to sell me something, or turn on my computer camera to see where i kept my booze ....

I use PDF24 sometimes to edit PDF, not sure it converts ...   hey you could consider just converting the PDF into JPEG with your screen saver gidget ... at least you could put that into emails, etc.

just some thoughts, maybe someone knows exactly how to convert PDF to TEXT.

Try this:  open the pdf and an MS Word file.

Highlight the text in the pdf file.

Use control-C to copy it to the clipboard.

go to the word file, and use control-V to paste it.

Might have issues if you highlight both pictures and text at the same time, might not.

I didn't find a free file.

I went to Adobe.com and asked the same question to them (Duh! The logical first place to ask is the creator of the program).

You can subscribe to a plug-in for Adobe Acrobat Reader which allows you to export a PDF file to a .docx Word file.  You can then edit the Word file and save it to your Documents folder.  There are several different levels of power you can subscribe to, the cheapest is $1.99/ month.  It would do all I needed to do so I subscribed, paid online by credit card and downloaded it.

It works.  It is a lot of trouble to edit after exporting but it is doable and to me worth the trouble.

I tried that as well as opening the Adobe PDF TFS file and a Word file side by side on the screen and then drag and drop highlighted text from the PDF to the Word.  Either way what I got in the word document is a bunch of question marks instead of letters.

The add-on to my Acrobat Reader that I got from Adobe changed the format from .pdf to .docx while exporting the file.  Not all of the formatting and fonts converted, and fixing this is where the editing trouble comes from.
