Hello all. A year or two ago there was some discussion about Lovex introducing a IMR 4759 replacement. Did that ever go anywhere? If so please share the Shoolers World name or Lovex designation. I'm down to less than a pound of 4759. Thanks. Gp

I've heard a lot of cast bullet shooters lament the fact that SR 4759 is no longer available. Looking at a burn rate chart it is slower than 4227 and faster than 4198. I have always had good results with those two. Is 4759 really that much better?

I have never tried SR4759, and now I probably never will... But I use a lot of Vihtavuori N110 for reduced cast bullet loads. This seems to be in the same segment as 4759. It is a really, really good powder for these loads. Clean burning, meters quite well and generally gives good accuracy. It might be worth a try?
9-11 grs in the .223 (55-65grs bullets)
14-16grs in the 6,5x55 (92-140grs bullets)
17-19grs in the .308 (140-200grs bullets)
18-20grs in the 30-06 (140-220grs bullets)
These load levels work well with GC, conventionally lubed bullets- or powder coated, plain base (or checkless) bullets. With powder coated GC bullets, you can up the loads a little.

Hi all,
Another great option is Shooter's World Buffalo Rifle (Lovex D060.) It is a 1:1 replacement from A5744 (Lovex used to supply 5744 before Accurate changed suppliers,) and it's also significantly less expensive. Buffalo Rifle's burn rate falls right in between IMR 4227 and IMR 4198 (VV N110/N120.) I've been using it with cast bullets with excellent results in a variety of pistols and rifles (.45 Colt, .30 Herrett, .260 Rem, .300 Sav, .30-06, and .45-70.)

Growing old is mandatory, growing up, however, is totally optional!

Thank you for the reply's Yes, I have Shooters World Buffalo Rifle powder on hand and use 5744 data exactly with no problems. I'm a fan of N110 especially in my 357s also 3N37. the VV powders are some of the best if a little higher priced.. As a side note, I lucked out and got the last #8 jug of H335 that I could find ANYWHERE. Enjoy the day friends. Gp
