No "Muzzle Loader" post category at the CBA Forum?

Gents,

It just dawned on me that there is apparently no separate forum category for posts dealing with muzzle-loader issues.  Am I missing something?

If there is any single group of shooters more likely than others to be interested in cast bullets, it's the black-powder front-stuffer boys, yet their specialty seems to be ignored by the CBA Forum.

Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places to find an ML post category, but -- if I'm correct that no such special category exists -- the CBA Forum is over-looking a huge population of cast bullet shooters.

Happy trails,

-- Cary Gunn --

You are right Gary. Round balls, mini-balls and maxi-balls, pickets and all those schutzen type bullets. Need to add a category for that stuff.

Would be an asset to the forum and to muzzle loading shooters.

The older I get the more my muzzleloaders are my go to range guns.

Amen to all of the above!  ML's are indeed great for offhand practice (and humbling too).

I will agree that the association pretty much ignores the front stuffers so it's no big surprise there isn't a TOPIC area for muzzleloaders.  Keep in mind the same situation exists concerning black powder cartridge shooting too.  Granted, there is a topic area for them in the forum but take a look at how many articles about that topic exists in The Fouling Shot.    Keep in mind that the black powder cartridge shooters are all shooting cast bullets too.

I don't know if it's because the BPCR  shooters don't write articles or is it because only a minute amount of CBA members shoot BPCR.   I suppose the same can be said for the muzzleloader shooters.   It could also be because over the years, there have been other publications dealing with muzzleloaders in greater depth.  Right now there is only one and it is mostly covering history and not shooting muzzleloaders.  There is also the web site, Campfire Topics hosted by Muzzleloader magazine and that forum-site is dedicated to traditional muzzleloaders and many topic areas of historical interest, much like this forum has different interest areas.

In the case of BPCR, there is a publication that specializes in them and that's Black Powder Cartridge News.

Those two publications differ from our The Fouling Shot in that they have hired and paid authors rather than accepting what freelance work their readers do.

By the way, that muzzleloading forum under the name Camp Fire Topics is a great resource for information.  Much like this forum, that one has many very knowledgeable participants who can answer darn near any question.

Load fast and aim slow.

Dirtybore,

You did not read the whole thread or have not looked at the categories. There has been a Black Powder Cartridge category and a new Muzzleloader category was added and those posts in the BPC that dealt with muzzleloaders were moved to it.

I didn't say we didn't have a BPCR section in the forum though I suppose it was very simple to assumed since I said the same exists for the them as the muzzleloaders.   That said, I will reiterate the lack of articles in The fouling shot that pertain to BPCR.  I will apologize if I led anyone astray.
