I was fortunate to pick up a Remington Model 25 in 25-20 and would really like to buy a Lyman R25 tang/receiver sight if someone would have on to sell.

I have one that I have been considering selling since I saw your post. I don't know if I can let myself sell it or not but I'm considering it. It would be high if I do decide to sell. It is in perfect condition. I have it on a little Remington carbine in 32-20. The rifle is pristine and I have never let my self drill the back hole where the wood screw goes in to the top of the stock grip. The rifle has been setting with the sight installed for about 30 years and like I said I just couldn't drill that hole in the little jewel. The gun is to valuable and pretty to drill a hole in. I'll think about it. Make me an offer.

I'M VERY SORRY, I DUG MY RIFLE OUT A FEW MINUTES AGO AND MY SIGHT ISN'T A LYMAN, IT'S A MARBLES BRAND.  SORRY THAT I MISINFORMED YOU. MY APOLOGIES.

If I were looking for a Lyman sight and found a Marble's instead, I would probably buy the Marble's and be reasonably content.

Mashburn, I was away over the weekend and just got home. My time was well spent as I spent part of Sat. and Sun. helping a friend resolve some casting problems. Thanks  for your response. As soon as you mentioned not wanting to drill the hole I knew you were talking about a Marble's sight.

Not sure how I would feel about drilling a screw hole in the stock, as the stock is cracked and is scheduled for repairs this Winter. If you don't mind give a day or two to think about it. Or you can PM me and tell me what you'd want for the rifle and sight?

Meanwhile I'll do a little more research on the Marble's sight.

Again, thank you,

Duke

Hello Dukem,

While I was digging around looking to see what brand the sight was, I found a Model 12  Remington .22 rifle that I had re-barreled and rebuilt years ago and never have completely finished it and basically forgotten about it. I think I will put the sight on this rifle. I don't mind putting a wood screw in this stock and it would make a nice little plinker. If I hadn't found it I would probably sold it to you. Sorry.

... ditto on preferring Marbles to Lyman ... tang ...  but Lyman gets the nostalgia points i guess ...

I understand completely. Enjoy them both! If you really want to cause me gun envy, tell me you have a Model 14 1/2 in either 44-40 or even better in 38-40.

I'll just say that you, like most on here, have excellent taste in guns, or at least taste that agrees with mine.  A 38-40 Model 14 1/2 would indeed be sweet.  Mitch.
