Range Rules

Pioneer Gun Club range safety rules do not permit firearms to be handled while people are downrange. This means guns can't be cleaned on the benches during target change. However, a safe cleaning area will be provided behind the firing line where cleaning will be allowed between matches. Another safety rule does not allow muzzles to be elevated above the level of the target backstop. In other words, powder may not be positioned by elevating the muzzle.

Additional Information is available at the Pioneer Gun Club Website.

Registration

The relay and bench number assigned to you at registration and weigh in will be your competitor number for both days of the match. Example, if you are assigned relay 2 bench 18, your competitor number would be 2-18 for both days. Both relay and bench assignments will rotate on Sunday. Those shooting on relay 1 on Saturday will be on relay 2 on Sunday and vice versa. Bench rotation will be by moving a number of benches to the right equal to approximately half of the number of competitors on each relay and will be announced at registration. For example, if there are 22 competitors using benches 1 through 22 on each relay, everyone would shift 11 benches to the right. You as competitor number 2-18 would shoot on relay one on Sunday and your bench number would be 7 (18 +11 -22 = 7). Someone assigned relay 1 bench 6 would shoot on relay 2 bench 17 (6+ 11) on Sunday. Although you switch relay and bench for Sunday your original competitor number (Saturday's relay and bench number) will not change.

All targets will be retained by the scorer until any challenges are settled on Sunday evening.

National Championship Point System

There will be a national champion declared for each class of competition. To qualify as a class, at least 10% of the competitors at the Tournament must shoot in the class. Additionally there will be a National Tournament Grand Championship Trophy awarded by a point system. The total number of points awarded will be 6 per class times the number of qualifying classes. For example, if four classes qualify, a total of 24 (6 x 4) points per aggregate will be awarded. Those 24 points will be allocated to the classes based on the percentage of shooters in each class. Points are then awarded to competitors placing in all 100 yard, 200 yard and 100-200 aggregates on the basis of on the basis of 3 points, or all the points allotted to the class whichever is smaller, for the winner and a smaller number for runner up, etc. The maximum possible point total for a shooter that won all nine aggregates in their class would be 27 (3 X 9). The National Grand Champion will be the person accumulating the most points. In case of a tie, the competitor shooting in the class with the most entries will be the winner. Example: (actual numbers for any tournament will be computed from number of entries).
